Constructing Subdivision Rules from Alternating Links
The study of geometric group theory has suggested several theorems related to subdivision tilings that have a natural hyperbolic structure. However, few examples exist. We construct subdivision tilings for the complement of every nonsingular, prime alternating link. These tilings define a combinatorial space at infinity, similar to the space at infinity for word hyperbolic groups.
متن کاملFibonacci words, hyperbolic tilings and grossone
In this paper, we study the contribution of the theory of grossone to the study of infinite Fibonacci words, combining this tool with the help of a particular tiling of the hyperbolic plane : the tiling {7, 3}, called the heptagrid. With the help of the numeral system based on grossone, we obtain a richer family of infinite Fibonacci words compared with the traditional approach. ACM-class: F.2....
متن کاملIterative pushdown automata and hyperbolic contour words
In this paper, we give an application of iterated pushdown automata to contour words of balls and two other domains in infinitely many tilings of the hyperbolic plane. We also give a similar application for the tiling {5, 3, 4} of the hyperbolic 3D space and for the tiling {5, 3, 3, 4} of the hyperbolic 4D space as well. keywords: pushdown automata, iterated pushdown automata, tilings, hyperbol...
متن کاملTilings as a programming exercise
We investigate the problem of producing symmetric tilings by programs in a uniform way. By this, we mean that the construction of a tiling should be parameterized by the geometric model in which the tiling is defined (Euclidean, Hyperbolic, etc.), its formal symmetry group, the interpretation of this symmetry group in the geometric model and a specific tile that fits this interpretation. This p...
متن کاملPointed Spherical Tilings and Hyperbolic Virtual Polytopes
The paper presents an introduction to the theory of hyperbolic virtual polytopes from the viewpoint of combinatorial rigidity theory. Namely, we give a shortcut for a reader who is acquainted with the notions of Laman graphs, 3D liftings and pointed tilings. From this viewpoint, a hyperbolic virtual polytope is a stressed pointed graph embedded in the sphere S. The advantage of such a presentat...
